You can get to Rafina by car or by a regular bus service (KTEL) from Athens.
The regular buses (KTEL) terminal is based in ‘Pedion Areos', in the centre of Athens, and it takes about 45 min to get to Rafina port from there.
If you are driving, you have two options.
1. Mesogeion Avenue
Follow Mesogeion Avenue eastwards towards its exit. Eventually Mesogeion becomes Marathonos Avenue. After Pikermi you get to the Rafina junction where you turn right.
2. Attiki Odos Motorway
If you are driving from the northern suburbs, follow the road towards Markopoulo and take the exit Y7/16 (to Rafina) until the end of Attiki Odos. Follow the signs and after Pikermi you get to the Rafina junction where you turn right.
If you are driving from Ymittos Ring Road, follow the directions right towards Markopoulo leading to exit Y7/16 (to Rafina). Follow the signs and after Pikermi you get to the Rafina junction where you turn right.
If you are driving from Markopoulo, turn right to exit 15, Marathonos Avenue. Go through Pallini and after Pikermi you get to the Rafina junction where you turn right.
There is a coastal line that connects Rafina to South Evia. There are daily passenger-car ferries that run throughout the year between Rafina and Marmari port in South Evia. The trip takes 60 min.
The distance between Marmari and Karystos is 11 km and it is a 15 min drive. There is a regular bus service (KTEL) connection to most ferries from the port of Marmari to Karystos.
The Karystion Hotel is situated on the east side of the town on the main coastal road of Karystos(you enter the town on the west side).
To get to the Karystion Hotel from Athens via Chalkida you can use the regular bus service (KTEL EVIAS) or drive your own car.
THE KTEL BUSES go from the long-distance bus terminal station of ‘3 Gefires' on Acharnon Street and the trip takes about 4 hours, via Chalkida.
BY CAR, you follow the national road Athens-Lamia north and you take the exit to Chalkida and Evia. Cross over the suspension bridge and follow the signs to South Evia. After the town of Aliveri you follow the signs to Karystos. The total drive takes about 2.5 to 3 hours (depending on road traffic).

You can get from Athens to Agia Marina in Marathonas by car or by a regular bus service (KTEL) from Athens.
The regular BUS (KTEL) terminal is based in Pedion Areos, in the centre of Athens, and it takes about 1h20 to get to Agia Marina port. From there the ferries arrive at the port of Styra where you have to hire a taxi or wait for the local bus service (Evia KTEL) in order to get to Karystos.
If you are DRIVING, you have 3 options according to your starting point.
1. Mesogeion Avenue
If you drive from the centre of Athens or one of the eastern suburbs, follow Mesogeion avenue eastwards towards its exit. Mesogeion eventually becomes Marathonos and leads to the east coast of Attica. Go through Pikermi and Nea Makri and just before Marathonas turn right to Schinias and Kato Souli. Follow the signs that lead to the port of Agia Marina.
2. Attiki Odos Motorway

3. Athens-Lamia National Road
If you are on the Athens-Lamia national road, take the exit "Agios Stefanos" in the northern suburbs. Follow the signs to Marathonas Lake. After the dam follow the road down to Marathonas village, go through it and turn left towards Schinias and Kato Souli. Follow the signs that lead to the port of Agia Marina.
There is a coastal line that connects Agia Marina to South Evia. There are daily passenger-car ferries that run throughout the year between Agia Marian and Styra port in South Evia. The trip takes 45 min.
The distance between Styra and Karystos is 33 km and it is a 30 min drive.
